3. 日本上陸後の手続きー在留期間更新、在留資格変更、その他
3-1 在留期間を延長したい
来日した際に付与された期間経過後も、引き続き就労したい、家族として生活したい（引続き同じ活動を続けたい）ときには、入国管理局に在留期間更新許可申請をします。
この申請は期間満了の2ヶ月前から受付けられます。期間更新の許可を受けたら、許可証印に記載された期間だけ在留することができます。なお「短期滞在」については基本的には期間更新は認められていません。
3-2 引続き同じ活動を続けたい（活動内容を変更したい）
就労できない在留資格であったが就職したい、就労しているが結婚して専業主婦になるなど、活動内容を変更するときには、入国管理局に在留資格変更許可申請をします。
3-3 就労に関する手続き
- 1) 就労中の外国人が同業他社に転職した
- 入国管理局に就労資格証明書交付申請をし、同証明書を取得する。
- 2) 就労中の外国人が異なる職種に転職する
- 入国管理局に在留資格変更許可申請をし、目的の業務に就くことができる在留資格に変更する。
- 3) 就労以外の目的で日本に在留中の外国人を雇用する
- 入国管理局に在留資格変更許可申請をし、目的の業務に就くことができる在留資格に変更する。
- 4) パート、アルバイトとして働きたい
- 資格外活動許可申請をして許可を受ける。週28時間まで働くことができる。
3-4 日本で子供が産まれた
- 市・区役所に行き、出生届を及び外国人登録をする。
- 在日大使館・領事館にパスポート申請する。
- 出生から30日以内に入国管理局に在留資格取得許可申請をする
（パスポート取得に長期間かかることがあるが、パスポートが出来ていなくてもこの申請はできる。）
3-5 パスポートが新しくなった
パスポートが新しくなったら、新旧2冊もパスポートをもって入国管理局に行き、証印転記願出書を提出し、新パスポートに証印を貼付してもらう。
3. Procedures after Landing: Extension of Period of Stay, Change of Status of Residence, etc.
1. Extension of Period of Stay
When a foreigner wishes to continue to engage in the permitted activity (continue to work, continue to stay as a family, etc.) beyond the validity of the permit, he/she is eligible to apply for extension of the period of stay. The application shall be filed to immigration office starting from two months prior to its validity. If permitted, he/she can stay in Japan for the period designated in the permission seal.
Note: Extension of period of stay of “Temporary Visitor” is not permitted except the case with an unavoidable reason.
2. Change of Activity to Engage in
When a foreigner wishes to change activity to engage in, for example a house wife entered into an employment contract with a company, he/she shall file immigration office an application for change of status.
3. Application Regarding Work
- When a foreigner with work permit changed his/her employer to engage in the work of the same nature, he/she is recommended to file immigration office an application for Certificate of Authorized Employment.
- When a foreigner with work permit engages in work of different nature, he/she must file immigration office an application for change of status.
- When a foreigner without work permit entered into employment, he/she must file immigration office an application for change of status.
- When a foreigner without work permit wishes to work as a part time worker or a temporary employee, he/she must file immigration office an Application For Permission To Engage In Activity Other Than That Permitted Under The Status Of Residence Previously Granted.
4. Procedures for a baby born in Japan
- Visit to city/ward office and apply for “Notification of Birth” and “Alien Registration”
- Apply for passport to the Embassy of its country
- File immigration office an application for “Acquisition of Status of Residence” within 30 days form the birth. The application is accepted even if its passport has not been prepared.
5. Transfer of permission
When a foreigner renewed his/her passport, he/she shall visit immigration office and file an Application for Transfer of Permission by presenting the old and the new passports. They will transfer the permission to the new passport.
